St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower of London & Thames River Cruise – Half Day
A guided tour of St Paul’s Cathedral - crowned by the magnificent dome that is so much a part of the London skyline. The Cathedral was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. In recent years it has seen the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer and, most recently, the thanksgiving services for both the Golden Jubilee and 80th Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.
The Thames River Cruise is next where you’ll enjoy uninterrupted views of the Gothic style Houses of Parliament, the London Eye perched high over the River, the South Bank Arts Complex and of course many of London’s famous bridges the way they were meant to be seen – passing under them!
Then it’s onto the Tower of London Jet black ravens guard this ancient fortress steeped in centuries of murder, treason and the untold secrets of the condemned... Hear the tragic story of Lady Jane Grey - Queen for 9 days, and the story of the 2 young Princes who were never seen again, as well as other tales of royals and noblemen meeting their end within the cold cruel walls of the Tower. The splendidly dressed Beefeaters will tell you about the Tower’s history, and of course you must visit the Crown Jewels including the 6,000 year old Koh-I-Noor diamond worn by all the Queens of England since Victoria.
On by coach to the City of London, which packs into its square mile bold, brash award-winning new architecture towering above dignified, confident Victorian masterpieces to create a kaleidoscope of styles along narrow streets that still follow their medieval street plan.
